You Can't Do This Alone

(And You Shouldn't Try)

Hey friend!

There’s something I’ve learned over the years, especially through the hardest moments in business, and it’s this:

You can’t do this alone. And you shouldn’t try to.

Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been running your company for years, one of the most important assets you’ll ever build isn’t a tool, a process, or a strategy. It’s your go-to tribe. The people you trust when it really matters.

And I mean really trust.

Your Internal Tribe: The Rock Stars on Your Team

Inside your company, there are probably one or two people (if you’re lucky, more) who have proven time and time again that they can be counted on. It doesn’t matter if the task is inside their job description or not. They rise to the occasion.

They just get it done, and they do it right.

These are your internal anchors. The ones who carry your company’s culture, integrity, and initiative without needing a spotlight. And no, you shouldn’t take advantage of them. But yes, you should value them, trust them, and involve them when it matters most.

You can’t build a business on your own. But you can build one alongside a team that acts like owners. That’s what your internal tribe looks like.

Your External Tribe: The Experts in Your Corner

Then there’s your external tribe. Your go-to people outside the business. These are the trusted advisors who show up for you when you need clarity, perspective, or tough truth.

Your mentor

Your banker

Your tax pro

Your attorney

Your confidant

Your peer group

Your sounding board

They may not be on your payroll, but they’re on your team. And in those pivotal moments when decisions need to be made or problems arise, you lean on their experience and wisdom.

I learned this most clearly during COVID. Like so many business owners, I had to make fast, high-stakes decisions. And having a strong tribe, both inside and outside my business, made all the difference. Honestly, I still lean on them almost every day.

Sometimes it’s a major financial call.

Sometimes it’s just a gut check.

Sometimes I just need someone to say, “You’re not crazy. This is hard.”

So Let Me Ask You: Who’s in Your Tribe?

Do you know who your people are?

Who do you turn to when the path isn’t clear?

Who will give it to you straight?

Who will pick up the phone when you call at 8pm, just needing to talk something out?

If you don’t have those people yet, start building that list today. Your future self will thank you.

And if you’re open to it, I’d love to be part of your tribe.

As a marketing consultant, systems mentor, and someone who lives for talking through business ideas, I’d be honored to be one of your go-tos. Whether you need clarity, connection, or just a good brainstorm, I’m in your corner.

Just hit reply if you want to talk about where you are and where you’re going. Let’s do this together.

Until next time,

Lindsey Huettner
