Letters from Lindsey

What can you/should you expect

from a C-level executive?

Hi hi!

I work with quite a few business owners and c-level executives and they all seem to have different ideas of what should be the other person/department’s responsibilities.  Now, I am not just talking about work expectations, I am also talking more about mental investment.

Here are a list of expectations that are usually mis-aligned.

What do you think?….who is responsible for:

  • Hiring the department?
  • Writing the SOPs for the department?
  • Train the department?
  • The department losing money?
  • An employee within the department not being a culture fit?
  • The department budget?
  • Quarterly and Yearly Goals/Initiatives for working on the business within a department?
  • Knowing what is going on with the business as a whole and determining how the department can help?
  • Out of the box ideas on how the company can be more profitable/efficient/better?
  • Workload and the number of hours it takes to complete this workload. (nights and weekends included)?
  • Taking the lead during company changes?
  • Offering consultative help? Strategic Visions?
  • Rallying employees around strategic visions?

There are so many of these that I could list, these are just a few; and there never is a cookie cutter solution to these, but the real question is: does your business have these expectations listed out and known by all?  Or is there a lot of ambiguity? What happens if you aren’t on the same page? How do you get there?

While this letter does not have any clear advise on what to do like some in the past, I can say that a lot of this ambiguity went away when we started the operating system, EOS/Traction. I would love to hear your thoughts on the above, what you have done in the past to help with the grey waters, or if you have no idea what to do and need someone to bounce ideas off of.

Shoot me an email at: Lindsey@theitcrowd.com and we can get a call on the calendar!

Until next time! 💜
