Killer Ways to Engage Your Audience This Halloween

Killer Ways to Engage Your Audience this Halloween

Halloween is the perfect time to explore the world of situational marketing. Millions of people across America enjoy celebrating Halloween and indulge in all things spooky the entire month of October. Because of this, when done correctly, playing into Halloween-fun with your brand’s messaging can result in higher social engagement metrics across the board.

Decorate for Halloween

A great place to start a scary social media campaign is by letting others know that you’ve gotten into the spooky spirit. The quickest way to do so is by decorating your store and your profiles. Changing up your socials doesn’t have to be hard! It can be as easy as changing the color scheme of your profile photo, adding in a spider web here and a pumpkin there, or you can ask your on-hand developers to create a more fun Google-inspired graphic to display on websites, apps, and social channels.

Go All Out

Halloween is an opportunity for your company to milk every aspect of the holiday. Pick a theme (monsters, kid-friendly, haunted house, graveyard) and embrace all the holiday puns. You can even create scary stories surrounding your customers’ problems (caused by competitors?) and how your products saved them! Whatever direction you choose to go, take off, and run wild! Halloween is a fun holiday so make sure to take advantage and show the human side of your brand. Office costumes are another great way to connect with your audience. You can even encourage them to ‘share the scare’ and post their costume photos while using your products and tagging you in them.

Seasonal Discounts

Phrases like “scary good” and “spooktastic” pair perfectly with a deal! A Halloween-themed giveaway on Facebook or a poll on Twitter is a great way to get your existing and potential customers excited about engaging with you online.

Photo Contest

Is it Halloween without a costume contest? If possible for your brand, launch a contest for creative costumes, spooky food creations, decorated rooms, haunted scenes or whatever else might be relevant to your company. Make sure to create a creative and unique hashtag to link entries to your page. Social contests also help to get your brand in front of people you don’t normally reach. You can choose a winner in-house or post the top choices and ask followers to vote for their favorites.

Provide Helpful Tips

If tricks and treats aren’t for you, don’t worry. You can still partake in the spirit of Halloween by offering helpful advice. The type of help you extend will depend on your company. When deciding on topics, try to find something that will likely be searched for during this season. For example, an insurance company might talk about how to make sure your house/car is covered in the event of any Halloween pranking. Delish does an excellent job of situational marketing around the holidays with their creative themed videos and recipes.

Hopefully, these 5 steps aren’t too scary for your social media campaign! When thinking of what to post, consider old content. You might be able to repurpose and add a twist to an already existing post, saving you from the horrors of constantly creating all-new seasonal content.
